LOCATION: Palmyra, NY

The Town of Palmyra had been storing their 10 trucks in 3 different cold storage facilities that had been built in 1940 and 1975. Without heating in the facilities, they needed to have the truck block heaters plugged in throughout the night during winter and some cold fall and spring nights, causing a potential fire hazard. At $150-$200K per truck, the town wanted to protect their nearly $2M fleet better and prolong the life of the vehicles.

Utilizing the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing agreement, the Town contracted with BlueScope Construction to design and build the facility. BlueScope teamed with local general contractor, LeFrois Builders, as their prime on-site subcontractor. LeFrois, a Butler Builder, ensured that local subcontractors were employed on the project. The project was completed before the next severe winter and celebrated with a grand opening and worker appreciation ceremony.
