GSA- Public Sector

Pentagon Renovation office

PROJECT DETAILS

MARKET: Public Sector
CLIENT: Pentagon Renovation Office, Army Corps of Engineers
END USE: Office and support facilities for renovation crews
SIZE: 23,000 Sq. Ft; 3 Stories
LOCATION: Arlington County, VA

The Federal Facilities Division (FFD) is in charge of the maintenance and remodeling of the Pentagon. The group needed quarters at the site which could be used for a different purpose after the renovations.

To meet its unique needs, BlueScope Construction constructed a three-story building next to the Pentagon that matched the look of the historic structure. The new facility was flexible enough to be used as offices during the Pentagon renovation period, and then it could be converted to a different use upon completion of the renovation.

The facilities needed to be able to handle floor loads of up to 150 pounds per square foot. The FFD had to move into the building in 22 weeks. In addition, the construction site was limited to 100′ x 110′ and one side of the building would only be eight feet from the Pentagon. Utilizing the GSA Federal Supply Schedule to order the building, the FFD was able to get the project at the best value and completed on schedule.
