Fall protection methods shall always be utilized when at elevation over six feet.
No consuming alcohol or illegal drugs on our worksites. No working on sites while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. No working on site when mental or physical impairment due to legal prescriptions creates safety hazards.
No fighting, threatening or carrying out physical violence. No unauthorized firearms or weapons on site.
No accessing equipment or power sources without proper lock out/tag out procedures.
No accessing a trench, which is not properly sloped and/or shored and which does not have adequate egress method.
No equipment operation in a manner, which could result in serious injury or death.
All accidents and injuries must be reported immediately.

Deliberate and/or willful violation of any of these requirements of conduct will result in immediate disciplinary action up to and including removal from the worksite, suspension, and/or termination.

Subcontractor Basic Safety Requirements

Each subcontractor will establish a project Safety Program in detail to address the particular characteristics and requirements of each project.

Each employee's attitude toward safety is dependent on the attitude of their management, including the foreman/superintendent. As the person in direct charge, the foreman/superintendent must be responsible for avoiding accidents involving workers just as he or she is held responsible for the quality and schedule of the daily work. It is up to him or her to be certain that each worker works safely at all times. To meet this goal, subcontractors must:

Determine what each worker needs to know to perform his or her job safely and instruct the worker accordingly. Monitor the worker's activities as frequently as possible to make sure all activities are carried out in a safe manner. Use disciplinary action including termination, if necessary. Give special attention and instructions to new or inexperienced workers. Also, conduct safety training on new work processes before they begin.
Submit a written plan to the BlueScope Construction Project Manager on how work processes (including temporary bracing and lift plans) will be accomplished.
Identify potential accident causes prior to starting individual work activities and determine how to avoid these accidents prior to commencing work. Establish Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for high risk activities.
Check the job as frequently as necessary to determine if there are new hazards to be aware of or if corrections or improvements can be made.
Verify that all equipment is maintained in safe condition and that personal protective equipment is used whenever necessary.
Conduct a scheduled safety "tool box" meeting with crew weekly and at start of new operations, such as roofing.
Discuss past accidents and corrective action, as needed, review safety performance generally and emphasize continuing needs and goals. Keep a signed and dated attendance sheet for each weekly toolbox talk and have them available for BlueScope Construction to review upon request.
Attend a weekly safety meeting for all foremen of active trades on the project.
Ensure that all injuries are treated and reported promptly to BlueScope Construction.
Perform or assist in the investigation of all accidents or fires, regardless of whether or not an injury is involved. The foreman should be the person who knows the particular job or operation involved and is best suited to determine conditions responsible for the occurrence as well as corrective measures needed.
Report on the progress of the Safety Program in accordance with the procedures established.
Keep reports defining daily construction activities.
Make workers realize the benefits of following safe practices and the costly alternatives---loss of life or painful injury, loss of wages or job, possible permanent loss of earning power, and possible permanent shutdown of an entire company.
Practice what you preach---especially regarding safety. Set a good example and follow through to correct workers when learning of unsafe conditions and acts.
Continuously monitor the weather. Keep workers informed about dangerous weather conditions. Discontinue work process that could lead to injury/damage in hazardous weather. Anticipate hazardous weather conditions and secure job site accordingly before doing so becomes hazardous.
Stop or correct unsafe acts or conditions under his/her control immediately.
Require all direct employees and second tier subcontracted workers to review and sign the site "General Safety Rules" prior to any work on the site.
Allow enough time for adequate clean up and housekeeping every day.
Evaluate near injury situations and learn/educate from them.
Conduct JHAs before any new process begins and review with workers.
Submit and have all employees submit safety incidents, description, and corrective action for incident.
Ensure all equipment inspections are completed each day before using the equipment.
